A Honk, a Ding and a Song to Sing!

Introduction:

One of my favorite things to do when I get home from school is to relax in my kitchen with the windows open. Part of the reason I love to do this is to get a nice breeze in my apartment, because it is usually really hot, but I also love being able to hear all the great sounds of my neighborhood. Some of my favorites include the crunchy rustling of leaves as the birds fly in and out of the trees, the laughs and cheers from soccer fields as local schools play their games, and the music and honks of local vendors as they pass down the street. There are many markets and stores in Chetumal where I can go to buy food, clothes and other supplies that I need, but luckily, a lot of other services come right up to my door! From breads to water, juices to gas, there several mobile services in my city, all with their own purposes and own special sounds. Let’s get to know a few, shall we?

What community need did I learn about?:

As I mentioned above, there are many different services in Chetumal that come on wheels. How about we start with the sounds and figure out what product they match with?

  1. “Honk, honk!” This squeaky horn tells me when I can get a sweet treat made from flour… It’s the bread man!
