Traditions That Will Make Your Head Spin

Introduction:

Some of my favorite memories from México so far have been of my experiences watching or participating in various traditional festivities. The country is so full of traditios that I wonder if I will ever be able to see at least half of what is out there! From food to dress to crafts to music and celebrations, practicing, creating, performing and displaying traditions are just some of the ways the people of México honor the history of their country and their ancestors. These traditions keep México lively, colorful and dancing, and what I want to talk about today is one of the most bright and busy traditions I have seen yet.

What tradition did I learn about?:

Let's keep guessing! This event has fast-moving parts, a lot of junk food and colorful lights. Any ideas? This event happens outside, there is always music playing and you might need tickets to ride. Getting closer? It is the Chetumal fair (la feria)! Also known around town as the Expofer, this annual event is the talk of Chetumal. Just as in the U.S., the fair is full of spinning rides, barbecue, sweet treats, flashing lights and a stage to host dances and artists. The fair stays in Chetumal for about three weeks, so it can be enjoyed over and over again.
