Delhi is special because it is both old and new. Not only did some of the oldest human civilizations begin here, but people have continued to live in this location ever since. When you walk down the street in Delhi, you see lots of ancient buildings mixed with modern skyscrapers, grocery stores and houses. It's cool to see the past and present at the same time!
Because Delhi is built on top of older civilizations, many streets aren't straight, paved or planned: they are narrow, twisting and carved out by where people want to go. This twistiness and density of the city has allowed Delhi to house nearly 30 million people in a very small area. And as you walk around the city, there seem to be people everywhere!
