Have Tuk-Tuk, Will Travel

Introduction:

With almost 19 million people, Delhi is one of the biggest cities in the whole world. How, then, do all of those people get where they need to go? As it turns out, Delhites (people who live in Delhi) use many forms of transportation. Many of these methods will be familiar to you, and others may be totally new! Let's check all of them out!

How do people get around?:

People in the city use many forms of transportation. Like in most cities, Delhi has public transportation that includes an amazing metro, trains and city buses. People also use private transit like taxi cabs, motorcycles and bikes to get around. All of these types of transportation can also be found in the United States.

But in crowded Delhi traffic, you can often see small, three-wheeled cars zip between the buses, taxis and motorcycles. What are these, you may ask yourself?

These Tuk-tuks or autos are one of the most common forms of transportation in Delhi. They are called tuk-tuks because that is the sound these cars make! The vehicle looks a bit like a green golf-cart because the sides are open to the air (make sure you hang onto your backpack when you ride a tuk tuk, or your bag could fall out!).
