An Interview with Maripaz

What language do you speak at school? How do you say "Hello" in your language?:

Well, in my school I speak Spanish because we are in Spain. And I say, "Hola".

What are some common kids' names at your school?:

Iñigo, Amaia, Iria, and Jose. There is also Alain, Aitor, and Ion. I thought that coming from Costa Rica, I was going to find more common names. But the students have different names. They're usually Basque names and Basque last names. Also, Mikel. Mikel is a really common name; that is in Basque. And in castellano (Spanish), it is Miguel.

What subjects do you study in school, and which one is your favorite?:

I am stuyding education and psychological intervention. [For my practicum for my degree], I usually teach students with specific learning problems like autism and dyslexia. We take tests to see how they are doing in reading comprehension, writing, and math. I also make material for classes and make games for kids. Usually during recess, the kids that have specific learning problems or autism have trouble making friends, so we make games for them during recess so they can play with other kids.

What is your homework like?:

Well, it's different things - investigation, my thesis that I am working on every day, intervention programs, and diagnoses.

What do you like to do after school? Do you have a favorite sport or game?:

I love to hang out with my friends, eat, go to the movies, and dance. I'm really shy, but I love to dance. I love sports. But mostly, I have always practiced soccer.

Who is your favorite famous person?:

Bruno Mars.
