The official language of France is French. Street signs and official documents are all written in French first. The people who live in or visit Paris might speak any language you can think of! The most common languages spoken in Paris are probably French and English. Often, museums make maps or audio guides available in multiple languages.
The currency used in France and throughout Europe is called the euro. One of the most striking differences between euros and dollars is that euros are different colors and sizes. 10 euro bills are bigger than five euro bills! In the U.S., we are used to using pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters regularly. We use dollar coins on occasion, but most of the time we use one dollar bills. The especes (coins) that go along with euros are different denominations (amounts) than those in the United States. They are: 1 cent, 2 cents, 5 cents, 10 cents, 20 cents, 50 cents, 1 euro, and 2 euro. Unlike dollars, there is no such thing as a 1 euro bill.
