The Life of a French Fourth-Grader

Introduction:

Johan is a 9-year-old CM1 student in Paris, France. His favorite books are manga. He likes to play chess and he can name almost all of the Pokemon. We chatted about what daily life is like for kids in Paris. Keep reading to find out more!

What do you eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner?:

On school days, I read a book while I have chocolat chaud et tartine au beurre, hot chocolate and buttered toast, for breakfast. Lunch at school is cheese, fish and grains and une pomme, an apple, for dessert. For dinner, we have omelet, cauliflower and pasta with cheese.

What is your house like?:

I live in an apartment with my mom and my little sister, Louise. We have family dinner in the kitchen. We also have des chambres, un salon, et une salle à manger (bedrooms, a living room, and a dining room).

What chores do you have at home?:

At home, I help my mom set the table, clean up after dinner and put away my toys. I also go get the baguette, bread.

What jobs do your parents have?:

My mom is a teacher! She teaches geographic history to middle school students in Paris.

What time does school start, and what time do you go home?:

School starts at 8:30am. We have a lunch break from 11:30am -1:30am .
