Traveler Bio

Bonjour depuis la France! Hello from France! My name is Darby. I’m 22 years old and a current Fulbrighter studying to be an experimental physicist at the École Normale Supérieure (ENS) (Normal Superior School) in the center of Paris. ENS is one of the grandes écoles, a specific kind of French school created to educate French students who want to become teachers and researchers. Most days, I work with optics (for example light, mirrors and lenses), computers and electronics alongside a team of scientists, engineers and specialists from all over the world. Paris, one of the biggest cities in Europe, is a great place to perform scientific research because it has a high concentration of universities and laboratories.

I grew up in Phoenix, Arizona, and moved to Belle Mead, New Jersey in high school. Then, I moved to a small town in western Massachusetts, Northampton, to earn my bachelor's degree in physics and French studies at Smith College. My hobbies are making music, learning new languages, playing board games and spending time with my family!

I am looking forward to sharing my adventures abroad and learning with you! À bientôt! See you soon!
