Brazilian Hot Dogs

Introduction:

Brazilian hot dogs are basically the same as typical American hot dogs, except for the fact that they add all kinds of funky ingredients on top! It has become one of my favorite late-night foods here in Brazil.

What food did I try?:

I tried Brazilian hot dogs. Who knew that hot dogs were as popular around the world as they are in the U.S.! Do you like hot dogs?

How did I feel when I tried it?:

At first I thought to myself, "Who puts PEAS and CORN on their hot dogs?!" However, I gave it a try - and it was awesome! One hot dog is very filling. It is definitely a meal on its own.

How is the food prepared?:

A Brazilian hot dog vendor will take one or two hot dogs, slice them in half, and place them in a white bread bun. Then, they add shredded mozarella cheese, peas, onions, corn, rice, red beans, fried potato sticks, mayonaise, mustard, and ketchup. The whole thing is warmed up and/or grilled. Most people eat their hot dog with a guaraná (local soda) or a cola on the side.

Is this food connected to the local environment? How?:

Brazilian hot dogs vary from region to region. In the south, where I am living, hot dogs include toppings like rice, peas, and corn, which are crops that are grown in bulk in the region.
