Kids Lives in Brazil

Introduction:

Have you ever wondered what it's like to be a kid here in Brazil? I interviewed Alessandrinha, a 14-year old from Florianópolis, Brazil, on what her daily life is life. Alessandrinha was very happy to do this interview, and we both hope you learn a bit more about Brazilian life and culture through her story!

What do you eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner?:

For breakfast, I usually have pasteis, which are fried pastries filled with either beef, chicken, or cheese. I have this with juice, tea, or sometimes coffee. We also eat pão de quiejo, which are balls of bread filled with cheese, and fruit, or sweet pastries.

For lunch and dinner the meals are very similar. We almost always have arroz e feijão, which is rice and beans. We eat this with a salad on the side. Brazilian people like to eat barbecued meat, rice and pasta.

What is your house like?:

Brazilian houses are often very colorful. Inside and outside. My house is bright blue! Brazilian houses do not usually have heating or air conditioning. We don't really need it. In the winter (right now, June-August) we have space heaters. The walls are plaster and the floors are tile. I live in a house on a hill. We have three bedrooms, a rooftop terrace, a kitchen, a dining room, a living room, and a garage.
