Traveler Bio

Oi (Hey), fellow explorers! For the next six weeks, I'll be sharing with you my expereinces in Brazil and some other places in South America. I am spending three months in a city called Florianópolis, an island in the south of the country. So far, I am having an awesome time. I am here with the U.S. Department of State's Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship to learn intensive Portuguese.

I chose Brazil for a few different reasons. For one, I had never been to South America prior to coming to Brazil. Also, South America is the one part of the world that I did not extensively study during university. I wanted the chance to say that I did, so I came here right after graduation. Also, during my Peace Corps Service to Eswatini beginning this fall, I will be able to use Portuguese since the country borders Mozambique.

I hope that through my experiences, you all get to learn more about a very unique part of the world that shares many differences but also similarties with the United States. I also hope to teach you guys some of the Portuguese I've been learning!

Te vejo em breve (See you soon)!
