Mekulet (Foods!)

Then you serve it with labneh and bread.

Is this food connected to the local environment? How?:

A lot of vegetables and fruits are imported into the country and are not grown in Jordan. To "import" means that the item (in this case, vegetables) is grown somewhere else and then brought into the country. Imported items are often given special taxes when they come into the country which makes the items more expensive. Jordan consists of mosly deserts with almost no water, so most food is imported because it is difficult to grow here naturally. I'm guessing that the vegetables in the mansaf that I tried were probably imported.
