This week, I had a fun brunch with my friend Langam at a cozy café in Amsterdam. We enjoyed chatting, trying some local pastries and watching the city wake up around us. It was a nice break from classes and exploring, and it felt great to connect with a friend while enjoying the Dutch café culture.
At some of Amsterdam’s underground metro stations like Nieuwmarkt metro station, there is background music playing through the speakers as part of a project by Gemeente Vervoerbedrijf (GVB) to make waiting for trains more pleasant.
Instead of just hearing silence or announcements, the station can play soft background music depending on the time of day such as calming classical tunes and nature sounds in the mornings or rush hour, and more upbeat music in the afternoon.
