Getting Around Greifswald!

People who are traveling farther distances, such as people who come from surrounding cities to work in Greifswald or people who live a little farther away and need to go shopping, take their cars. Cars are much smaller in Germany, and there are not many places to park in the inner city. However, there are those times when you buy something that is too big to fit on your bicycle, and only a car will do. There are also not many places to park or drive in the central part of town, though, so driving can be a bit confusing in general, here!

People who are traveling much farther distances, such as into Berlin or to other parts of Germany, or even to other parts of Europe, take buses or trains. Both of these forms of transportation are much less expensive than driving or flying to different parts of the country. I prefer to take the train because I think it's much more comfortable than any other method. German trains usually include a small cafe and better bathrooms than a bus. There is the added advantage on a train that I can get up and move around if I've been sitting for too long. Buses are okay too, but usually they are more crowded. I wish there were more opportunities to take trains in the United States!

How did I feel when I tried this way of getting around?:

Since everything in Greifswald is close to my apartment, I really like walking everywhere. It is also more environmentally friendly to walk. It is also more calming for me, and I enjoy getting the fresh air every morning.
