Traveler Bio

My name is Kaylee Gueltzow and I was born and raised in Minnesota. In high school, I fell in love with learning languages. As a result, in college, I added a German major to my already planned majors of English and education. I always knew I wanted to be a teacher!

In college, German offered me many new opportunities! In 2015, I was awarded a language grant to study German in Munich, Germany for two months in the summer. From there, I traveled to Vienna, Austria where I continued studying the German language, as well as the culture in Vienna. I loved learning about German in an actual German-speaking country where I could see plays, read books or just order coffee in the language I was learning!

I finished college in 2017 and took a job as a kindergarten teacher at a German school in Minnesota. Here I was able to share my love of the language with my own classroom. Being a Fulbright scholar had always been a goal of mine since my high school German teacher was one, so while teaching, I applied through my college for my own Fulbright grant to Germany. And I soon found out I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity!

Now I am working as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in Greifswald, Germany. Greifswald is a pretty small university town in the Northeastern region of Germany. Here, I work at a gymnasium with students from 12 to 16 years old. Being an ETA has always been a dream of mine and I am so excited to share it with you!
