Traveling In Gaborone, Botswana

Introduction:

One thing I learned from transportation in Botswana is that there is no such thing as personal space. People in Botswana travel closely together. People often share taxis, cabs, and khombis with strangers. You can meet 16 new people from riding a khombi once!

How do people get around?:

People use khombis to get around major stops in the city. A Khombi is very similar to city buses. Another form of transportation that people use are taxis. Taxis take you along popular routes in the city and cost 5 pula, which is less than 50 cents USD.

How did I feel when I tried this way of getting around?:

I felt very nervous about taking a taxi and a khombi for the first time.

Is this way of getting around connected to the culture and environment, How?:

On a khombi, you meet a lot of people in the city. People talk about everything on the khombi. It is a great way to see how everyone interacts.
