Bread of life

Introduction:

Diphaphata bread is an African cuisine. Most times, it is dipped in different stews to add flavor. Sometimes Diphaphata can resemble a very thick pancake.

What food did I try?:

Some may compare the Diphaphata bread to an English muffin. However, this bread is denser in texture and resembles something between a biscuit and roll.

How did I feel when I tried it?:

When I first tried this bread I didn't imagine it to taste the way it did. My mouth felt very dry which is why I compared this bread to a biscuit. Overall, this bread was really good but I would suggest eating it with honey or jelly to make it sweeter.

How is the food prepared?:

This bread is made from flour and water. It is rubbed together to form a patty and placed on a burning grill. The burning grill gives the bread a toast and crunch, leaving the inside soft and chewable.

Is this food connected to the local environment? How?:

This food is connected to the local environment. In Botswana, the communities eat a lot of carbs and proteins. Quick and easy, bread-like Diphaphata adds more substance to meals.
