The Khama Rhino Sanctuary

Introduction:

This week I visited The Khama Rhino Sanctuary. According to their website, the sanctuary "is a community based wildlife project, established in 1992 to assist in saving the vanishing rhinoceros, restore an area formerly teeming with wildlife to its previous natural state and provide economic benefits to the local Botswana community through tourism and the sustainable use of natural resources. It is aproximately 8585 hectares of Kalahari Sandveld, the sanctuary provides prime habitat for white and black rhino as well as over 30 other animal species and more than 230 species of birds."

What does this creature or plant look like?:

This creature resembles a horse. It has stripes that are brown with a white background. Its brown strips are often mistaken for the color black. This animal is also the national animal of Botswana. Can you guess what animal I am referring to?

How did I feel when I saw it?:

When I first saw the animal I was excited. I have never seen a zebra up close. I never noticed how short they are. Because of how close I was to the zebra, I could finally see that the stripes were not black, but brown instead.

Where does it live?:

Zebras live throughout the African continent. Different species of zebras belong to different enviornemnents.
