Travel News

How far did I travel this week?:

This weekend I travelled to Sindumin for an English Camp at another E.T.A.'s school. Sindumin is 30 miles west of where I live, but it took us around one and half hours by car to get there because the roads are a little rough.

How far have I traveled on this journey so far?:

Getting to Malaysia took quite a long time. It ultimately required four flights and a three-hour drive to get to Tenom from the United States! Malaysia is 13 hours ahead of United States Eastern Standard Time.

How did I get around this week?:

Tenom is a relatively small town of only 5,000 people. My school is less than a five-minute walk away, and the center of town, complete with grocery stores and restaurants, is also about a five-minute walk away. Therefore, I walk everywhere in town. My roommate’s school is about 10 kilometers away, so he drives to school every day.

What was the most interesting place I visited this week?:

Before attending the English Camp this weekend, a number of E.T.A.s met up in Sipitang. Sipitang is on the west coast of Sabah. We ate our dinner right by the water and watched the sunset.

Other Travel News from this week:

Tenom has an old boxcar train that you can ride north. A few weeks ago we took the train to a smaller town where you can go whitewater rafting!
