I imagine you all have your own routines and habits. Maybe you take the same route to school every day, maybe you have the same classes each day and maybe you sit with the same friends at lunch. When you move to a new place you get to create new routines and make new friends. It is so much fun traveling to new places! You see new sights, eat new foods and meet new people. However, it can be difficult making a home out of a new place. During the past eleven weeks I have created new routines and made lots of new friends. Throughout this time I found it helpful to say “yes” to any opportunities and to ask ask questions whenver I was curious.

I have found Malaysia to be a friendly environment. as the people I have met are very kind and welcoming. My teachers and students at school have invited me to numerous events since arriving in Malaysia. I have attended events such as weddings, baptisms, harvest festivals, speaking competitions and New Year celebrations. At each of these events I got the opportunity to meet new people from my town. Many times my conversations with people would lead to an invitation to come to their house for dinner or hang out at a later date and time. Just this week I went running by a students’ home. Their family noticed me running by and invited me in for dinner!
