"LatAm music" is an umbrella term, encompassing genres such as cumbia, merengue, bossa nova, tango and more. My current favorite song for practicing is "La Promesa" by Bonanza.

I've been working my way through a Spanish version of Grimm's fairytales. I already knew some of them, which helps me practice my reading comprehension in my second language. It takes effort, and it can be frustrating when I read more slowly than other people, but it is worth it to practice.
This week I learned a card game called cuarenta (translation: 40) which is a beloved pastime here. It's a big part of the celebrations for Fiestas de Quito next month, so I've been practicing almost every day. Fun fact... when you play cuareta, you don't use jokers, eights, nines or tens.
On Sunday, November 16th, Ecuadorians will be voting on whether or not to change parts of the country's constitution. This does not happen regularly, so I am very privileged to be here to watch a moment in history.
