This week, I traveled about 61 miles outside of the city, from Quito to Mindo. My daily commute to the university where I teach is only about 1.5 miles each way.
In total, I've probably travelled within the country about 150 to 200 miles, having visited Pimampiro, Cotacachi and Mindo.
I got around in a lot of different ways, including walking, taking the metro and taking an uber for traveling within Quito. To get to Mindo, though, I took a city bus, an interprovincial bus and a taxi!
Mindo was definitely the most interesting. It was awesome to be in a real rainforest! It was also much louder than I thought it would be. If you're sensitive to lots of noises all happening at once, I might recommend earplugs.
