What main languages are spoken here?:

The main language is Spanish, but there are a lot of indigenous languages that have survived time, colonization and globilization. The most common ones are Kichwa and Shuar, which are spoken by communities in the mountains and Amazon rainforest respectively. English is taught as a foreign language here. 

What type of money is used here?:

You'd never guess it, but the American dollar is used here! Ecuador also mints centavos, which are coins that have the same value as our American currency.

How much does a bottle of water cost?:

It depends on where you go, but a bottle of water usually costs just one dollar. The most expensive I've seen costs $2.00, and the cheapest costs $0.50. 

What was the best meal this week?:

This is a tough question, because nearly everything I've eaten so far as been delicious! My birthday was on the 13th, and I went to a fancy resturaunt called "Clara" with other Fulbright grantees. We tried everything, including raw fish in onion sauce, fried yuca, tomato salad and an absolutely enormous porkchop!

What music did I listen to this week?:

I've been taking Salsa and Bachata dance classes, so I've been listening to a lot of Latin American music.
