Transportation in Japan

Introduction:

Japan has one of the most effective and widespread systems of transportation including trains, buses, cars, taxis and bicycles. Living in a place with an effective transportation system can be beneficial in many ways, especially in terms of one’s well-being and the freedom it gives you to get around places. The culture and transportation system of Japan perfectly shows these benefits. In fact, Japan has been ranked as one of the healthiest countries in the world for several years. While the Japanese diet plays a huge role in this high ranking, I also credit the transportation system for keeping Japanese people healthy.

How do people get around?:

First and foremost, people in Japan walk a lot. People here typically prefer to walk to their destinations if they are able to or if the destination is within walking distance.

Other than that, taking the public bus and train is one of the preferred modes of getting to places. It is also one of the cheapest options; a card swipe is about 370¥, or $3.37. The public transportation lines are also connected to various parts of the country, making it easier for people to get to places.
