Transportation in Japan

This act of being polite can be seen in the trains and buses where people are supposed to give up their seat when there is an elderly person or a pregnant woman in sight. Here, it is also seen to be a common act of kindness for an individual to help an elderly person cross the street. Another act of being polite, which I had a hard time adjusting to in the beginning, was not eating or drinking in trains and buses or even while walking in the streets. I am someone who loves to have her iced coffee in hand while walking to places, so this was a huge culture shock for me. Overall, though, the Japanese transportation system, along with the Japanese culture, has been good to me, and I constantly look forward to learning more about them every day I am here!
