First Japanese Meal in Japan

Introduction:

For our first day in Japan, my friend Chelsea and I wanted to try a local Japanese restaurant that was within walking distance of our campus. We searched for the closest open restaurant and found Coco Ichibanya to be the best option.

What food did I try?:

Japanese Curry! It was a specialty of the restaurant we chose.

How did I feel when I tried it?:

I felt comforted while eating this dish. After two days of flying, going through an orientation upon arrival and settling down in the dorm, the warm, perfectly spiced and delicious Japanese Curry made me feel right at home! To top it all, the restaurant environment was also super welcoming.

How is the food prepared?:

While I do not know the exact way in which the restaurant chef prepares their curry, I know that a lot of supermarkets (including Asian markets in the United States) or convenience stores in Japan sell Japanese Instant Curry that you can prepare at home. In fact, there are plenty of videos on Youtube for making Japanese curry. You will need water, a pot, rice, meat, and a vegetable to prepare the dish. I definitely recommend you all try the curry at least once in your lifetime; it is super simple AND delicious!
