For this daily life field note, I will be interviewing a friend, Yuka, whose dorm room is right next to mine. Yuka is currently a third-year at Kansai Gaidai University and she is majoring in English. Yuka hopes to become an independent woman and work with people from all around the world. Yuka plans on studying abroad in Europe or the United States next spring semester. She was inspired to study abroad after meeting Japanese students at KGU who had studied abroad before; she mentioned that she admired the students’ independent and carefree attitude and aspired to be like them.

“I am currently staying at the dorms in Kansai Gaidai University. But I live with my family at an apartment in Himeji, Hyogo- which is about two and a half hours away from Hirakata City.”
“I have a mother, father and an older sister who is currently married. My family members are very calm and positive people. Everyone in my family is working full-time, except for me. I am just doing a part-time job.”
