Caldo de Pollo

Introduction:

Good morning to all the lovely people who are reading my very first field note! I'm so happy you guys get to join me on my wild adventure here in Guatemala. To start, let's talk about food. Who doesn't love food? If you ever get to travel the world, you will soon realise that food tastes different everywhere you go. The food you eat changes for many reasons, such as the specific foods that can be grown in a country, the culture behind seasonings and even just what an individual likes and dislikes. Food is amazing, and in this field note, you will join me as I eat a typical Guatemalan dish called caldo de pollo (chicken stew).

What food did I try?:

In Guatemala, I have tried so many different foods. From tacos to stews to tamales to special Guatemalan desserts, I try to eat something different wherever I go so I can make the most of my 2 years in Guatemala. In this note, you will see a picture of a special Easter dish, pan mojado con atol (wet bread and corn atole), that I got to try recently, which was extremely delicious. Unfortunately, I do not know much about how that magnificent dish was made, so we will be talking about caldo de pollo, which is a typical Guatemalan lunch that I usually have about three times a week.
