Hello! My name is Seth Green and I have the honor of working with the Peace Corps in the Totonicapan region of Guatemala for the next two years. Throughout my life, traveling has made a consistent impact on my life style. As a kid, I moved around quite a bit from state to state and even a little bit out of the country as a result of being born to two military parents who were always being deployed to different places.
For some, this would be detrimental as they would learn to hate the constant change and yearn for a sense of consistency. For me, I came to love exploring new cultures. Even within the same country, just moving from one community to the next, the societal norms change significantly and learning about all the different ways that people come up with to address similar issues has always been intriguing to me.
Through my position with the Peace Corps Youth in Development program in Guatemala, I work with the youth in my community through schools, health centers, libraries, and other youth focused organizations. After starting my work in Guatemala, this job has been everything I asked for and then more. I have had the opportunity to create deep connections within my community which has given me access to so many cultural gems. I have only been in Guatemala for six months now, but I already have a plethora of stories and experiences that I am eager to share and am excited to create many more. Thank you for deciding to accompany me on my journey and I hope you enjoy the ride!
