Living in a Big City

Introduction:

Since I have been living in a city that is more urban than rural, I will be discussing the city of Brussels itself and the environment within Brussels. There's a lot to see and do in Brussels, and it's a very popular tourist and political destination. From the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) heritage sites to amazing architecture, Brussels has an environment unlike any other city in Europe.

What makes this environment special or different?:

From the art to the architecture and the food to the heritage sites, Brussels is as unique a city as they come. In 1890, a new artistic style was created in Brussels called Art Nouveau (new art) which influenced all forms of art including furniture, jewellery and paintings. Also, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is an agency within the United Nations that is responsible for promoting peace, social justice, human rights and international security through international cooperation on educational, science and cultural programs. In Brussels, there are countless UNESCO sites, including the town houses of famous archtiect Victor Horta. Lastly, Brussels is an extremely diverse city and is divided into three linguistic regions: French, Flemish (Dutch) and German.
