Growing up Italian

Introduction:

I asked a few kids some questions about their lives. Sometimes, I was able to record them and write what they said. However, sometimes I had to translate or summarize what they told me. Either way, I think you'll find that these kids are just like you all. They have responsibilities and fun similar to how kids in America do.

What do you eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner?:

Breakfast:

"Mangio la frutta. Qualche volta nonmangio" (I eat fruit. Sometimes, I don't eat.)

Lunch:

"Mi piace la pizza di Forno!" (I like pizza from Forno!)

Forno directly translates to 'oven' in Italian, but it is also the name of a type of pizza shop. A forno normally carries various types of Roman pizzas that are cut up into different sized rectangles and sold by weight.

Dinner:

"Mangio con mi famiglia. Mia mamma cucina la pasta o mangiamo fuori." (I eat with my family. My mom cooks pasta or we eat out.)

What is your house like?:

"I live in an apartment on the 7th floor with my family and our dog. I share a room with my sister. Our house always smells like food because my mom loves to cook. When my dad gets home from work, we sit in the living room and watch TV."

What chores do you have at home?:

"I help my mom with the laundry.
