Growing up Italian

What subjects do you study in school, and which one is your favorite?:

"I learn math and science and Italian and history and social studies and geography and English and religion. I think I like science the most because it's cool."

What is your homework like?:

"We don't get a lot of homework. Sometmes I have to read or do a worksheet or study, but I stay after school for tutoring so I do it then, not at home."

What do you like to do after school? Do you have a favorite sport or game?:

"After school, I walk home with my friends instead of taking a tram. If it is hot, we sometimes stop and get gelato. My favorite sport is calcio." (Calcio is the Italian word for soccer or football.)

Who is your favorite famous person?:

"Lorenzo Insigne."

He is a famous soccer player.

What kinds of music do you listen to?:

"I really like Ed Sheeran."

Music sung in English is still very popular in Italy.

What would you like to be when you grow up?:

"I want to work in my dad's store when I'm older and one day I'm going to run it by myself."

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?:

"I want to go to Canada because I don't know a lot about it and it would be really interesting to learn. And because it is hot here and Canada is cold."

What do you know or think about the United States?:

"The United States comes from Britain and they left in the Revolutionary War. It's also really big and everyone speaks English."
