Animals in Peru

Introduction:

Iquitos is a jungle enviornament that is filled with animals. Not only did I get to see the animals, but I even got the chance to carry some! One of the animals was called Pepe, and he was a rescued tucan, a member of the bird family. He did not know how to talk, but he knew commands such as "Come here Pepe." He was not big; he was a middle-sized bird, and he wanted lots of love and attention!

What does this creature or plant look like?:

He is a bird with a black beak and has strippes by his eyes. Most of his wing feathers are blue, but his body is a mixture of orange and yellow. He has a long tail too.

How did I feel when I saw it?:

The first time I saw Pepe, I couldn't stop looking at his wings. They were majestic! The turquoise wings caught my attention first, but the rest of him was beautiful too. I could not take my eyes off of him; he was incredible!

Where does it live?:

He is a macaw bird that live in the jungle. These birds are native to Central America, Mexico and South America. They love the rainforest.

How does it use its environment to survive?:

Macaws use the environment by eating fruits, flowers, leaves, insects and snails from the jungle. These birds use the jungle to gather their food and to create their home.
