Day in the Life of a Peruvian

Introduction:

I have met so many people from Peru over the last few months; however, I was able to form a real friendship with Alejandra. Alejandra is a Peruvian student who has been kind to me, showing me how the transportation works in Lima. She has also helped me understand Peruvian history a bit more by giving me her point of view. I hope you enjoy her story.

What is your full name?:

My name is Alejandra Cristina Samame Dulanto.

Where do you live? What is your house like?:

I live in Lima, Peru in the district of Jesus Maria. I have a three story house near an avenue, so it gets pretty noisy at times. My house is beige and has many colonial mirrors and pieces of art inside.

What is your family like?:

I have a big family. I live with my parents, Oscar and Tita. I have one older sister named Katia who is married and has two children. I also have an older brother named Oscar, and he has one child and another one on the way. I have five aunts and two uncles on my mom's side of the family. My grandpa and grandma live nearby, so we visit them all the time.

How do you get around?:

In Lima, it is somewhat difficult to have your own car, so I take Uber for longer rides and the public bus for shorter trips. I also walk from place to place.
