Food in Peru

Then they wrap the mixture in banana leaves and cook it over the stove. Patarashca is a dish in which the fish is prepared with onions and then wrapped in banana leaves. It is then put over an open fire to cook.

Is this food connected to the local environment? How?:

All three dishes that I tried over the weekend had to do with the jungle. The fried plantines can be found everywhere in the jungle, so it is easy for the locals to cut them and add them to their food. Patarashca is made of fish that live in the local rivers; this means the locals can go fishing for their meal and not buy the fish from the store. The people who live here do not need to go to stores as often as we do because they get most of what they need to eat from their environment. They have long been able to produce delicious food by using what nature has provided them with.
