Kids in Tha Sala

Introduction:

Kids in Thailand have very different lives based on where they live. My students live in a small town, and this affects their answers and makes them different from other students in Thailand. The answers to these questions below came from several students and most of them were in 3rd grade.

What do you eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner?:

In Thailand, we eat rice with every meal. For breakfast, it is common to eat rice with eggs. It also may have pork and a spicy sauce. Lunch is served at the school. There is always rice and some type of meat dish. It can be curry, fish or pork with vegetables. There is usually dessert served with lunch at school as well. Sometimes the dessert is fruit and other times it is a dessert soup made with coconut milk and jellies. Dinner food is similar to lunch. There is always rice, and different types of dishes are served on top of it. Meals in Thailand are served family style, where multiple dishes are served and all shared.

What is your house like?:

Many of our houses are little homes close to the school. Many houses have small gates surrounding the house, with open front areas where people frequently sit. The floors are usually made of cement, and home have a couple of bedrooms and a bathroom.

What chores do you have at home?:

We have chores at school as well as at home.
