Thai Food!

How is the food prepared?:

Many dishes are made in a wok, which is a big pan with oil. Many of the rice dishes, noodle dishes and omelets are made using this. Many Thai dishes are very spicy, but I like spicy food. Any time you go into a Thai restaurant there will be four dishes that you can use to add flavor to your food. One will have sugar, another will have spicy chili flakes, another usually has oil with peppers in it, and the last is a sauce similar to soy sauce.

Is this food connected to the local environment? How?:

Thailand has a tropical climate, so it is able to grow many different types of fruit! I have been able to try many fruits that are not as common in the United States, such as rambutan, mangosteen and dragon fruit. Rambutan is red with green spikes coming off of it, but when you peel back the skin, it is kind of like a grape. Mangosteens look similar to purple tomatoes, but inside they have long white seeds that taste amazing! And dragon fruits are about the size of a pear, but they have thick red skin and green tendrils that look almost like flames. On the inside, dragon fruits are either purple or white and have many little black seeds.
