American Thanksgiving Traditions

Introduction:

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite tradtiions because it's all about the food and spending time with friends and family. I love to cook and so this is a time for me to make food to show others how much I love them.

What tradition did I learn about?:

I've celebrated Thanksgiving in a new different States in America. I've had thanksgiving in North Carolina, Texas, and New Jersey. These are very different states geographically and the culture is just as different. However, one of my favorite memories is from my Thanksgiving in New Hampshire with my husbands family and I'm going to share a little more of this experience.

Why does the community have this tradition?:

My husband's family in New Hampshire is really large. Ben is the youngest of four and he has additional siblings from his parents remarrying and adopting. This means that the Thanksgiving dinner table is full of people. They celebrate because they have time off from work and school and it's a time to come together and spend time with people you love.

Is this tradition connected to its environment? How?:

Traditionally, Thanksgiving is a harvest festival. It is celebreated after the summer crops have been collected and everyone is beginning to prepare for the winter.
