I love Evergreen Trees!

Where does it live?:

Evergreen trees are all over the United States, but they are mostly in areas with lots of forests, like the North East. They prefer slightly colder temperatures but I've seen them growing in Texas which is a hoter and dryer climate so I think that they are really tough and can grow about anywhere.

How does it use its environment to survive?:

Evergreen trees grow in nature from seeds inside of pinecones. When the pinecones fall from trees, they are often carried far and wide by birds and squires. Tha'ts how the trees are able to grow all over the forest! When people plant evergreens, like Christmas trees, for domestic uses, they tend to grown them in lines. It's important to keep the tress straight and tall so that they don't get too heavy on one side or another so sometimes farmers will trim the branches to keep the trees growing upright.

What can harm this creature or plant? Are we worried about it?:

Evergreen trees are not in danger of going extinct because they are really hearty. However, it's important to know that these trees cannot grow to their fullest size unless they are in a forest. As forests have declined in the Untied States, it puts full ecosystems at risk. We need to make sure that we continue to appreciate trees in all their beauty and support people who plant and tend to trees as well as those fighting to limit deforestation.
