Our News

We have been sharing lots of traditional American meals with our housemates. Yumm!

What music did I listen to this week?:

I have been listening entirely to music in Spanish this week to try to improve my Spanish. The song most stuck in my head right now is by a Chilean artist named Fernando Milagros. The song is called "Reina Japonesa," which means Japanese queen. I have been trying to learn the song on guitar and it is quite fun to play. Another fun aspect of living here is that there is music everywhere. When you ride the metro, there is almost always someone playing guitar, rapping or otherwise making the journey better with music.

What activity was the most fun this week?:

This week we went climbing at Rocas Oceanica and it was really fun. We love to climb and this was a really unique place right next to the ocean. It was spectacular to climb up rocks with the ocean crashing below you!

What did I read this week?:

I am currently reading Harry Potter in Spanish. I am not good enough at Spanish to read very complicated books, so Harry Potter is the perfect balance between an easier writing style and a really fun book to read. Unfortunately, I am learning lots of impractical words like "unicorn" and "wizard" which are not particularly useful in my daily Spanish conversations.

What games or sports did I play this week?:

The only sport we did this week was climbing. I work with a Chilean who is very into soccer, so I am hoping that one of these days he will let me play with him. I think he may be way better than me though.
