Jordan's water: a vanishing resource

Introduction:

Water is one of the most important resources anywhere. Unfortunately, Jordan is one of the driest countries in the world. Let's explore how water issues affect daily life and the environment, here.

What makes this environment special or different?:

Jordan has an extremely small amount of water. As a mostly landlocked country, Jordan has very little access to the sea. Additionally, the politics of the region make it very complicated for Jordan to get water. Global warming and refugee issues also impact water consumption, here, meaning more people need water. And many water sources in Jordan have dried up, so there is less natural water to use. It is a very complicated situation.

What parts of this environment help people to live here?:

Jordan has very fertile soil in the north, where a lot of farming occurs. Jordan also has a lot of desert area, which helps people generate large amounts of solar power. Finally, Jordan has developed ways to use less water, such as by limiting water flow and conserving water from rain.

What challenges do people face living in this environment?:

Simply put, we all know people can't not have water; however, in Jordan, people sometimes do not have a lot of water to drink.
