Introduction:

How do Thai people get around and is this mode of transportation efficient? In these pictures, you can the main method of transportation in Thailand: motorbikes. I've also shared a separate video album to give you an idea of what it's like to ride around on the back of a motorbike!

How do people get around?:

The number one way to get around in Thailand is by motorbike, or "moped" for short. Just like how cars are seen everywhere around America, motorbikes are everywhere in Thailand. They're even incorporated in the taxi service here. However, besides motorbikes and cars, public transit in Thailand includes buses, a tourist carriage called a gab-tuk-tuk and the equivalent of Uber, called Grab, which I use frequently. Unfortunately, Thailand is the number one country in the world for traffic accidents. This could be due to several factors. One of them is that many regions in Thailand lack a solid foundation for roads. This lack of foundation means anything from pot holes to uneven dirt roads. Thai people also like to ride motorbikes with three or more people on them. Unlike cars, motorbikes don't have seat belts. This means a lot of people can get hurt very badly in traffic accidents, especially if a group of people are on one motorbike and get into an accident.
