La comida que conocí

For example, almojabana, which is almost like a cornbread; la garulla, a sweetened cornbread; yuca bread; bonus bread; the list is neverending. But the longest list is the list of fruits. In Colombia, there are hundreds of fruits that don’t exist in the United States. There are fruits with flavors that artificial flavoring wishes it could replicate.

How did I feel when I tried it?:

I always feel grateful to try new foods in Colombia. I love to learn about culture, and food is an authentic representation of it. I also just love to eat. There are things that I liked right away and others that I really didn’t like. But I think it is always important to try, and even try again, because the preparation may be different. For example, the first time I ate tripe, its rubbery texture made me uncomfortable. Now it is the soup I never like to miss out on. Even though there are no seasons here, I appreciate the changes in weather patterns because it means new different fruits.
