Getting Around Ourense During My First Month

Introduction:

Ourense is a city of just over 100,000 people, but it is still possible to walk almost anywhere you want to go. Ourense has a bus system, but it doesn't really go outside of the city center. To get in and out of the city, you can either take a regional bus or a regional train. There is no airport in Ourense.

How do people get around?:

Most people own a car and get around by driving in and around the city. Some people take the bus from place to place. There are also some people who walk most of the time because the city is small enough.

How did I feel when I tried this way of getting around?:

I do not own a car in Spain and also do not know how to use a manual transmission. Nearly all of the cars in Spain (and Europe in general) are manual, not automatic. However, I am pretty comfortable with getting around in a car because I know people in the city who own a car and drive it a lot. In order to get to my school every day, one of the teachers I work with picks me up in the city center and then drops me off there at the end of the day.

Is this way of getting around connected to the culture and environment, How?:

It is convenient for most people here to drive cars because the city is small and it does not take much time to get from one side to the other.
