Comida Ourensana

Introduction:

Some of the foods I have tried in Galicia and Ourense include octopus, empanadas, sardines, cod and bocadillos. I love Spanish food. and I especially love Galician food because it involves a lot of seafood.

What food did I try?:

A new food I have tried since I arrived in Ourense is pulpo (octopus), which is a delicacy throughout all of Galicia. Any seafood restaurant in Galicia will have at least one pulpo dish, and there are some restaurants that are pulperías, which means they specialize in cooking octopus.

I have also tried the local empanadas in Ourense. Each part of Galicia has its own unique empanada, and in Ourense, the empanada is kind of like a thick pizza crust that is hollow in the middle. This empty part is then filled with various ingredients, which can include tuna, cod or meat, in addition to some vegetables. I have also tried local ham and bocadillos (sandwiches).

How did I feel when I tried it?:

I think the pulpo here in Galicia is delicious, especially when it is seasoned and prepared well. The only problem is that it is expensive, so I don't eat it that often. The empanadas are also delicious, especially the ones filled in with meat. It is kind of like eating a flattened pie.
