Caldo de Pollo

This covers the essentials, and a lot of families grow additional produce outside of just these two things. Furthermore, families in Guatemala are also typically closer than those in the U.S., with a lot of grandparents, children, aunts, uncles and cousins all living close together who might have an additional ingredient that you need for your stew. In conclusion, caldo de pollo is a typical Guatemalan dish because of how easy it is to find the ingredients and how easy it is to make. Despite its simplicity or perhaps because of it, to me, caldo de pollo has become a sort of comfort food that I always look forward to eating and will very much miss when I return to the States because it will never be the same.
