Running of the Bulls

As they were transporting the cattle from the farms to the markets, the men would try to hurry the animals along by using tactics of fear and excitement. This included running in front of the animals. With time, it became a competition between the runners to see who could run the fastest for the longest. This act became popular with the public, and is now an annual tradition, not only in Pamplona but in many parts of Spain.

Is this tradition connected to its environment? How?:

This festival is celebrated in honor of San Fermin, the patron saint of Navarra. The runners even have to chant a prayer in his honor before starting. This religious aspect is reflected in the Spanish community. Religion (specifically Catholicism) is a very important part of the culture and history of this country.
