Reduce, reuse, recycle!

Introduction:

Why is recycling important? Waste has a huge negative impact on our natural environment. Landfills filled with our daily trash release harmful chemicals and greenhouse gases. Recycling reduces this pollution and reduces the need for raw materials, so rainforests don't need to be cut down. Recycling also creates a tighter and more responsible community that cares for the planet we live in. That is why governments in every country are making their citizens aware of the importance of recycling, and this includes in Spain.

What community need did I learn about?:

Like most developed nations today, Spain has turned its attention to the concern of reducing waste and increasing recycling. Throughout the city of Madrid, you can find a lot of recycling bins, especially ones for glass and plastic, as well as others for paper, oils and used clothing. However, despite recycling bins being offered to the public, and made highly accessible in Madrid, recycling is still something not a lot of people know about or do on a regular basis.

Why does the community have this need?:

Recyling is not yet common in Madrid, which has created a problem for the latest EU efforts to decrease waste and help the environment throughout the continent of Europe.
