Unfortunately, I don't know the location of the public graveyard we visited, but the bus service was at Hon Atsugi station, about 7.7 miles from Tsuruma station, 14.14 miles round trip. I estimate I have traveled about 6,638.49 miles since boarding a plane bound for Japan. That is probably an underestimate.
I got around primarily by train and by walking. Trains are quick and on time and are decently priced, and my own legs and feet are reliable for short distances.
I most enjoyed the trip to the public graveyard to visit my family's grave.
I'm looking into getting a student commuter pass for the route between my dorms and campus. The rail companies offer commuter passes for people who use a specific route a lot, such as people commuting to work or school. You pay a lump sum base upon the line you plan to take and the number of months you'll need it. It would save me some money, especially the student pass since it's cheaper than the usual commuter pass.
