Traveler Bio

Hello, I am Avery Johnson! I will be a college senior next year, studying for a major in Business Economics and a minor in Japanese. My end goal is to become an international business consultant, helping companies spread from the US to Japan, and from Japan to the US. I am half Japanese on my mom's side, and have been to Japan a few times for vacation with my grandparents. I have been studying Japanese for the past three years now, motivated by my heritage to do my best.

I have studied abroad once before, when I spent a month in France. I took French lessons all through high school, and figured it would be nice to practice the language again in college. I spent months agonizing over the decision, but I'm glad I did it. Studying abroad in France gave me the confidence to study abroad in Japan for a longer period of time.

My hobbies include creative endeavors like writing, drawing, and painting. I also have something of a stationery hoard, collecting things like pens, notebooks, and stickers. I have a small collection of watercolor paints from when I had an art room. My favorite drink is tea. I can't stand coffee, and I've tried coffee 3 times and despised it each time. I have not tried energy drinks, and I don't think I ever will. I have a big tea collection and an electric kettle to bring water up to different temperatures depending on the type of tea I want.

I am very excited to be in Japan for a year, and thank you all for joining me!
